Slide Executive 2.0 Released

I would like to congratulate my friends at Novatrox for releasing Slide Executive 2.0. Slide Executive is a set of applications which enables you to build a library or database of your PowerPoint presentations. You can then use the library to quickly find a presentation or create a virtual presentation on the fly.

The Slide Executive suite consists of two applications. Slide Executive Desktop, which is a desktop application intended for single users and Slide Executive Professional which is a web based application.

The Desktop application is free to try and if you want to test the web application you can just contact Novatrox in order to get a demo, if you do please send them my regards!

The current versions of the products are all written in C#, but I actually worked on a product which was a predecessor to Slide Executive. At the time I was coding in Visual Basic and ASP, and in fact thatâ€s where I picked up most of the coding skills I used when I created SYDI.

Fake Email Slashes Apple Stock by $4 Billion

If you read any of my stories, sorry for not being so active on that front, you might remember A Stock Bubble of His Own which I wrote last year.

You want a real world example? Head over to TechCrunch and read about a fake email to Engadget which made Appleâ€s stock drop. Engadget quickly posted an update saying it was a false alarm.

This might have been just a prank or someone going after some quick cash, I would guess that a lot of people lost money too. With systems selling stock automatically if it drops below a certain point this can get nasty.

Interesting reflection from TechCrunch; “I do not believe Engadget will have any liability here. Apple may, if the email did originate from its servers)”

No I’m not CAN Certified

During the week I wrote a certification exam for Cisco, before the actual exam I was presented by a survey where they ask questions like background and experience. One of the questions was for which existing certifications I held.

From the Novell camp they had listed CAN, CNE and MCNE. I archived my CNA status in 1998 but haven’t really thought of pursuing the CAN certification. Since it isn’t listed on the Novell page for certifications, I’ll give you a hint on how to reach your goal.

If you already have the CNA status you’re ready to go, otherwise just follow the guidelines provided by NovellÂ Â before you start. Then when it’s time to write your CV just open up a word processor which has automatic spell check and write about your trophies hopefully the program will replace CNA with CAN, voila!

I haven’t seen that many CAN’s in the real world although I noticed one of the authors who writes for Syngress has it, good for him!

I would also guess that a lot of happy jobseekers have listed the CAN certification in their resumes.

Yesterday I updated the address to the RSS Feed, the new address is http://feeds.ogenstad.net/Ogenstad. If you don’t know what a Feed is read about it on this page. If you want to stay up to date with the site but don’t want to use the RSS Feeds you also have the option to subscribe by email.

The old feeds will continue to work but that might change in the future so please point your RSS readers to the new url.

The Tale of the Disgruntled Employee is coming to an end. The next story will be about midfr0st. If you have any thoughts or feedback regarding the stories or site in general please share them, either as comments or you can contact me.

If you haven’t read all the stories (I’m saying all here since it sounds more than five :)) you can find them in the story section. I will add all the links for the Disgruntled Employee as soon as the story is finished. Hopefully this list will grow large.

Matrix Reloaded, No Wait I Meant Ogenstad.net Reloaded

After running this blog for a few months I thought it was time to give midfr0st and n3m0 a new home. So the old default WordPress theme is gone. If you’re reading this through feed take a look at the new site.

I like the new version more and I hope you do to. I have also added some more information about myself and the site in general.

Another addition is the story section where I will list past stories as well as current and upcoming ones.

Soon I will also add a page for the characters where you can get to know them better, and have something to read while I’m being slow.

For SYDI fans I have a few tutorials / how-to articles I’ve been thinking about. If you want anything specific just ask me. However at the moment I’m more interested in getting out part one of the next story.

Oh, if you’re reading through feed you might notice that several posts appear as updated. I’ve been playing around with the options at FeedBurner. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello World!

Hello World has a special meaning for all programmers / scripters, and I guess for bloggers too. This is the first entry to my blog and I hope there will be many more. My plan is to write about scripting and security, if I stick to the plan remains to be seen.
